We have left the country for New Year's Eve --or at least that's what it feels like. We are in North Carolina, a favorite stop of mine, but it feels as if we are tucked away in the Alps amid the European life that I so miss.
Our weekend has consisted of the decadence of wine from a box, appeteasers that make your mouth water, hot tubs surrounded by snow and, of course, ample board/card games.
It amazes me how refreshed and inspired I feel after seeing the sunset last night, turning the mountains into a pink landscape that doesn't look real.
Nature rejuvenates. Time away from chaos heals. Simplicity is key.
I'm going all Thoreau on you, which I apologize for, but the absence of internet, the wonder of fresh air and the presence of your loved ones make me feel anew. Makes me feel like I can take on next semester. Makes me feel like this new year, this daunting 2013 will be just fine.

Happy New Year's Eve, all! I hope everyone is making resolutions. See you in 2013! xx
